Hide the Shorts tab on YouTube
Hide the Shorts tab is free in Chrome. It is not available in Safari, and UnLoop does not change the tab in the YouTube app.
In Chrome, UnLoop hides YouTube's sidebar Shorts entry and the Shorts tab on YouTube's mobile site with Hide the Shorts tab, a free feature. It is off until you turn it on in the extension's popup. It is Chrome only: Safari on iPhone and Mac does not offer it, and UnLoop does not change the YouTube app. This page says where the tab can be hidden and how to turn the feature on.

Without UnLoop
With UnLoop
Safari on iPhone and Mac has the other two free features: hide Shorts from feeds and open Shorts links in the normal player. Read UnLoop on iPhone Safari and UnLoop on Mac Safari.
Turn on the tab option in three steps
- Go to the UnLoop page in the Chrome Web Store, using the Chrome button on this page.
- Install the extension in Chrome.
- Open the extension's popup from the toolbar and switch on Hide Shorts tab. It is the third of the three switches, and it is off by default.
For the rest of the extension, read the UnLoop Chrome extension.
What it cannot change
The Shorts tab in the YouTube app stays where it is, because UnLoop does not change the YouTube app. The extension does not hide the Shorts tab on channel pages. The Shorts shelf in your feeds is a separate option: hide Shorts from feeds covers it.
